A delegation of BMS met Hon. Union Textiles Minister Sri Piyush Goyalji on 14th October 2021 and brought his notice on the problems faced by Handloom; Powerloom; NTC Mills and Jute Mill workers. On 5&6 October, the All India meeting of the Handloom Sector was held at Kanchipuram, TN. Prior to that, on 2&3 October all India meetings of Akhil Bharatiya Matsya Mazdoor Mahasangh was held at Karaikal, Puducherry. The delegation had briefed the details of the deliberations to the Minister and his officials. Hon. Minister responded positively and promised to arrange a larger meeting soon. On behalf of BMS, Sri CK Saji Narayanan, Former President; Sri B.Surendran, All India Organising Secretary; Sri Girish Arya, All India Secretary; and Sri Shyam Bihari Prajapati, All India Office Secretary have participated. On behalf of the Ministry, Senior Officials who look after Handloom, Powerloom, Jute and NTC Mills have participated. At the international level talks with WTO are going on particularly on Fisheries Sector. There is a lot of pressure on India to cut the Subsidies to Fishers. In this connection, Sri CK Saji Narayanan requested Sri Piyush Goyalji, who is also Minister of Commerce to protect the interests of Lakhs Indian Traditional Fishers. BMS appealed to the Minister not to yield the International pressure and stand firmly as it stood in the case of RCEP. To this Minister promised positively and assured to protect Indian Fisher’s interest.
