A delegation led by Sri Hiranmay Pandya, Chair L20 India, and also President BMS has met Hon.Minister of State for Communication Sri Devu Singh Chouhan at his Delhi residence and bried the progress of L20 events and explained the TWO themes proposed by L20 Secretariat . They are – 1)Universal Social Security;2) Women and the Future of Work. L20 Chairman has requested the Minister to explore the possibility of providing Social Security to Un Organised Sector workers who enrolled in the E Shram Portal. The Postal Department can play a vital role in this process as its having a nationwide network.
The BMS has started work among Private Telecom Employees in a few States. Recently, in Kerala Bharatiya Private Telecom Mazdoor Sangh has conducted its 6th State Conference. The delegation brought the problems of Private Telecom Workers to the notice of the Hon. Minister and submitted a memorandum regarding this.
BMS has demanded to bring all Private Telecom workers under Schedule employment and fix Wages based on their Skill Category; all Private companies either Indian or Multi-National should follow the Law of the Land and provide all facilities under Indian Labour Laws; Provide Social Security coverage like PF & ESI; all the contract workers should continue even if Contractor Changes; the Managements should impart in training in Skill Upgradation and starting a Grievances Redressal Mechanism in Ministry of Communication Under TRAI.
The other members of the delegation are Sri Ravindra Himte, General Secretary; Sri B.Surendran, Organising Secretary; Sri Anish Mishra, Dy. Finance Secretary and Sri Rajesh, RMS Employees Union.
The Hon. Minister responded positively and promised to look into to the matter.
