The ILO DG Mr. Gilbert Houngbo interacted with the Indian Trade Unions on 26th feb 2025 at ILO regional Headquarter – New Delhi

The ILO DG Mr. Gilbert Houngbo interacted with the Indian Trade Unions yesterday at ILO regional Headquarter – New Delhi. Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh was represented by Sh. Girish Arya – All India Secretary alongside Ms. Trupti Alti and Raja Satyajeet Banerjee. Sh. Arya discussed the overall labour scenario of the country. Sh. Arya specially emphasised the need for green skilling as part of the just transition process and the need to switch to living wages. He also discussed the importance of adopting responsible business practices and why we must continue pressurising the government to adopt more ILO convention. Ms. Alti and Sh. Banerjee made important comments about women and youth related issues respectively.
BMS also submitted a copy of its letter to hon’ble environment minister regarding involvement of trade unions in the just transition process through Nationally Determined Contributions to the ILO DG
The ILO DG patiently heard all the union leaders and expressed happiness about the meeting
